I think so because it's very similar to the heroes journey as it still applies to almost everyone just in a different way and in a different light. It is something that we all go through just in our own way and with our own journey and struggle. The Iliad could just be a different base for the heroes journey kind of like the odyssey.

Yes, it actually seems to matter more according to the interview. The interviewee talks about how it really represents what life is, the ups and down that happen. He also calls Homer an it, as all poets and authors are all the same, as all stories have the same roots of some sort. - Jack R

It still applies because everyone goes on a journey and our journeys can be seen in the journey in "The Iliad". Everyone can see a piece of their lives in the story and can relate to it. "The Iliad" addresses reality and shows that the tragedy is just part of what life is.

Natalia- Yes homer and the Iliad still matter because first of all we still study it today and many people still read these old poems. Homer still matters because i'ts a story that applies to people today. It's almost like a metaphor of challenges and triumphs people go through and it applies too many people. It's almost a book that can apply to all humanity when you apply it to your own life. The Iliad is based on a true story that happened about 4,000 years ago and this is important because its apart of history which makes homer and the Iliad still important today. He says this book can make these ancient stories relate to us today and since it does this it is a very important and special poem. The heroes in homers writing also touch a lot on different ways of masculinity and the person speaking in the podcast touches on this.

The Iliad does still matter today. It matters for the same reason almost all literature matters. It can be used to learn about ourselves. The story itself is less important than the meaning behind it. The purpose of good literature is to make you think, about yourself, about society, and about life, and the Iliad certainly accomplishes this. For that reason, it still matters, and will continue to matter till the end of time.

They talk about what Homer is and what he "gives off" as a human. Homers relationship with Troy and the significance he had to Odyssey.

Yes, the Iliad still matters and according to the podcast it might matter more now. The Iliad can represent trials and battles that we go through in our normal lives and how we need to endure and push through tough times. We can also learn from the Iliad what to do and not do from the hero and Gods.

I think that the Illiad and a lot of the stories under the category of Greek Mythology still apply to our time right now. So much of the cultures around the world are influenced by those greek Mythology stories. An example is that Homer provides models of gender roles by demonstrating them through the characters. We can not avoid the threads of greek mythology into our world, but we can recognize them.

I do think "The Illiad" still matters because it is a metaphor for our lives. What the characters in "The Illiad" go through represent the challenges we have to face. The decisions the characters make in "The Illiad" represent the choices and decisions we have to make in our lives. "The Illiad" shows the struggles that humans face and shows what it means to be human. "The Illiad" still matters because it compares to our lives.

The stories in Greek mythology specifically speak to men. Homer, and the iIliad are perfect examples of this, it shows the reader that acting heroically is important when it comes to setting yourself apart from the competition. Which will also build confidence, wisdom, and character all things that attribute to masculinity.

The epic poem also gives philosophers, and history enthusiasts an actual account from the Trojan War.To me a poem is like a puzzle of words where the goal is to figure out the authors message, and all people have is little bread crumbs to life in Trojan war times.
