In this image we appear to see many different gods. We see Athena popping out of Zeus's head as he is struck. We also see What looks to be Hades and Poseidon to Zeus's left with hades being on the far left wearing his helmet and then Poseidon is to his right in-between hades and zeus. We also see Ares to Zeus's right as he is holding a shield and is wearing a helmet. And finally we see Hera to zeus's close right looking at zeus and Athena who is popping out of his head.

The vase represents the sides the Gods are on and how they deal with their sides. Athena is being born out of Zeus' head in the painting on the vase as well. Athena is on the mortal side, meaning she is Pro-mortal. Hercules seem to be on the divine side.

We can see Athena in the background edging into the border. This symbolizes that shes not limited. We can see Zeus in the front characterized by his lightning bolts. We can see other gods and goddesses surrounding them. Who I assume is standing on the right or the divine side, Zeus and Athena are in the middle, and two other gods are on the left or mortal side.

Athena was born out of Zeus's head, we know it is her because of her spear. Apollo next to Zeus has a lyre or a musical instrument, demonstrates order in mortality, Apollos songs have the message to honor the gods and acknowledging their power. Athena has her hand up showing maybe she is using an invisible force. Another reason it could be Athena because of the soldier's helmet behind her.

Natalia-
1. Athena is helping Hercules take on Apollo but zeus does not approve
2. Apollo is a prophet of the gods and humans can count on Apollo if they know their place in the world.
3. Hercules taunts Apollo with Athena backing him up and on the vase Hercules and Athena are both drawn in white
4. Hercules is moving towards the divine side and Athena is already on the divine side
5. almost looks like Athenas hand is calling Hercules over to her side.

(left is mortal and right side is divine)

it looks like they are coming to an agreement? when Athena was "birthed" from Zeus' forehead it seems as she is ready for battle.- Mia M

In the image, it shows Achilles on the divine side and holding Athena's shield Aegis. This shows that Athena favored Achilles and that Achilles is divine. Achilles being on the divine side shows that he was like a god and was excellent. Zeus being in the middle shows that he sometimes favors mortals as well as gods. Zeus being in the middle also shows that he is the center of the universe.
