In this picture of a black and red figure vase you see a lot of different depictions of gods. You can tell that Athena is at the top because she was born from Zeus's head as shown on this vase and she also has a spear and shield and goes into the boundary of the decorative part of the vase. Zeus is shown holding possible lightning bolts in his hand. Apollo's armor also reaches the top boundary signifying his importance.

The vase is about the birth of Athena being birthed out of Zeus' head fully armed. Zeus is in the center because he is the top god. Hera seems to be by Zeus on our right since she is the wife of Zeus. Athena is crossing the normal borders which symbolizes her independence. There seem to be other gods there with them but Apollo is the only one I could figure out since it looks like he's holding a lyre. Zeus and Hera look like their fighting which makes sense because he isn't very loyal to him so she might have thought he had another affair. Also, Zeus is holding what looks to be his lighting bolts which also symbolizes that it's him in the vase.

On this vase there are 6 people, the divine on the right and mortal on left. Athena is coming from a head, which you can assume is Zeus'. Her head breaks through the border because she is not like Apollo and loves order, she breaks through barriers. It also seems that white painted people are engaging with other white painted people, whereas black is addressing other black painted people. If you look closely there is a chicken near the back of Zeus' head, which also represents Athena. Athena is also carrying her spear and shield.

The vase shown appears to show the birth of Athena, as she is being birthed out of Zeus' head, with the armor. It's Zeus because his traditional motif, the lightning bolt, is being held in his hand. The other people in the photo, from left, Hermes, Apollo, Ares, and maybe Aphrodite. But I can tell it's Athena popping out of Zeus' dome because she goes straight up through the top border, almost to say she doesn't really abide by the normal rules and guidelines other gods/mortals go by. Dr. Castellani also told us how most times black is used to convey figural and ornamental motifs. Which helps point to which person is who in the vase. For example, Ares has his large shield in black which is one of his symbols.

The placement of figures on the vase seems to be a very important factor. For example, Zeus is in the very center of the vase. I think he is the focal point for this piece. All of the other gods / figures are looking at Zeus sitting on a chair. The black silhouettes are hints that this vase was made longer ago than a vase that use white for all the characters in the vase. The borders are decorative, but they only are seen on the top of the vase above the gods. This vase is showing how Athena was born from Zeus' head.

this vase shows that the figures on the left may be the gods and those on the right are mortal and the mortals are asking for the gods to help. and the borders show that this has something to do with a battle since the border is made of what looks like shields. and based on the way the figures are facing it shows that they are communicating in some way.

I think this vase depicts Zeus in the middle, on his throne with his lightning bolts. To his left is Apollo with his lyre and behind him is Athena with her shield and spear, her head also is above the top crest. The rest of the figures I am unsure about. The woman to Zeus's right could be Hera because she is divine enough to talk with Zeus and she seems to be arguing something, like Hera always does. To her right could be Ares with his helm and shield but this could also be Achilles. So if I interpret the latter, the woman to Zeus's right could be Achilles' mother or could be some woman related to the Trojan war. The man or god on the far left could be Hermes because of his hat also.

This black/red figure vase shows multiple people communicating with each other. I see Athena at the very top being born from Zeus' head in full armor. Zeus is in the middle of everyone because he is the most powerful and he is the King. I think Zeus and Hera are arguing with each other. Zeus is holding his lighting bolt and Athena has a shield and spear. Athena's head is passing through the border showing she has fewer rules/restrictions than the other gods.

It looks like the these gods are all arguing with each other. Athena is present on the right side, Zeus sitting in the middle, Hera to the right, Apollo to the left, and Poseidon to the far left. It looks like they could be arguing about one of the heros that we have learned about this year. The borders includes a chain, columns and what looks like flowers.

In this picture of a black and red figure you see gods. It shows Athena is born out of Zeus's head because she is at the top. She is the more creative part of the vase holding it together. It shows the fights between Zeus and Apollo among his lightning bolt and the armor they all carry to protect themselves.

The vase shows Zeus in the middle with Athena being birthed out of Athena's head which she has all of her armor on. Zeus is holding lightning bolts along with his wife on the right of him. Dr. Castelannin mentioned that when something goes beyond the designed top border it shows that they are very powerful/important, Athena kinda does that but especially Apollo with his weapons(lyre).

The black and red vase shows Athena in the back round looking as if she is ready for a battle. Her traits include stuff like wisdom and strategic warfare which lead me to think that this vase is ment to show some sort of battle. Athena is also facing to the right side looking at the two god like figures. The darker figures on the left of Zeus looking as if they are all trying to accommodate Zeus

Looking at the black and red figure vase, I can decode a few different things. One of the things is that Athena is being born at the top of the vase from Zeus’s head. This is easy to see because Zeus is the most powerful god, so he is placed in the middle of the vase. To the right of him is Hera and to the left is Apollo. Zeus is holding the lightning bolt while Athena is holding a spear and a shield. One very important part about Athena is that her head is covering part of the border which shows that she has fewer restrictions than some of the other gods.

In this image, you can see five beings, two facing the mortal side standing on the divine side, and three facing the divine side but standing on the mortal side. By the helmet, the spear, and the shield above Zues' head in the middle, you can tell that Athena is being born out of Zeus' mind. It seems as if the two groups facing each other have some tension. Also, a lyre is shown in the image being held by the second man from the left perhaps indicating that he is Apollo standing behind and supporting Zeus. The lyre violates the border implying that this man has more power and holds himself at a higher ground.

The first thing that catches my eye is the character that breaks the bordering. That would be known to me ass Athena since she is perched on top of Zeus' head and is breaking the border which is almost unique to her. Zeus is sitting down with his lightning bolts in his hand, with his other hand he seems to be gesturing and speaking/arguing with the woman to his right. To his direct left, is Apollo holding and playing his lyre, to the very right the man with the shield and spear could be Ares however he is facing the wrong way which means he must be mortal and quite possibly a hero. If he were a hero I would guess that he is Perseus because the emblem on his shield reminds me that of a gorgon head. Having slain Medusa it would make sense for Perseus to "wear" Medusa's head on his shield.

The black/red vase shows many different people communicating with each other and shows many different things throughout it. I can see Athena being born from Zeus' head in full armor. Zeus is in the middle of everyone, which I think is because he is the most powerful and he is the King. Zeus is holding his symbol, the lighting bolt and Athena has a shield and spear. Athena's head is passing through the border. This shows that she has fewer rules to follow than some of the other gods. It also seems to look like Zeus and Hera are arguing with each other.

On this vase you can see 6 people. The one large one in the middle is Zeus, with his lightning bolt, to his left it appears a man appears to be sewing, who is probably also a god because he is facing the same way as Zeus. Above Zeus is a goddess, probably Athena. She is smaller than all the other gods, but she is also placed above them, which makes her seem powerful. She is also in a pose that makes her look like she is ready to fight. Finally, it appears there are 2 mortals who are talking with Zeus, and it looks like they are arguing because of their expressions.

In this black and red figuere vase you can see Athena being born out of Zeus's head because she is on the top. The other three people are on the divine right side of the vase and they seem as if they are fighting eachother

The red and black vase show many different people communicated with each other judging from it this it is probably all gods. This is most likely a vase that depicts the birth of Athena from Zeus's head. She is wearing full armor just like the myth says. Zeus is in the middle of everyone surrounding him. This shows the triangle of importance. You have Athena and Zeus in the center with everyone surrounding them making a triangle. Another thing that shows that it is Zeus is because he is holding his symbol, the lightning bolt. Athen has both a shield and spear and her head is passing through the border. That means a great deal, showing that she has fewer rules that she must follow than most other gods. As usual, it looks like Hera is in this and is arguing with Zeus which is normal for them. Overall I think that covers the most important things about this and maybe a few minor things as well.
