"The Illiad" does still matter. It's a very fundamental story that really shaped literature from ancient to modern times. Although it may be referenced less as it gets older, the influence of the "The Illiad" continues to be demonstrated in stories people write today. "The Illiad" is a very complex and fascinating story that also gives insight into how the Ancient Greek's thought and what was ultimately right or wrong at that point in time. "The Illiad" still matters, as it should, because if it wasn't ever written, the modern impact would be completely different.

I believe that the Iliad still matters today. It may be old, but the messages still carry on today. The themes of pride, honor, and war still apply today, because even though technology has changed, the people are still similar. Also it is useful because it allows us to see the language and style of the Greeks from a long time ago.

It does still matter because it has shaped a lot of literature today. And it is important to understand the background of things for the same reason that we learn world history.

The Iliad still matters today because the events that took place in the Iliad relate to today. For example, war and violence has always been a part of human nature. Like in the crash course video, The Iliad shows how some people can't let go of war. Not only that, but the people represent important issues today. Today we face the struggle of how much we affect others and this is reflected in the Iliad through Odysseus' decision to take credit for defeating the cyclops that in turn kills his men.

The Iliad is still a vital part of the Odyssey story as it lays the groundwork for all layers of the stor. Emotional recovery from war, post-wartime anger and fear, the greed and glory of humanity and all similar things to drive home the point that Odysseus was a man of war not a man of peacetime he suffered greatly due to the effect that the war had on him.

"The Iliad" still matters because it one of the earliest works of literature which details one of the great plagues and glories of civilization: war. The Iliad is one of the earliest works of literature known of and this is important because it allows people to get a view into the past. To study our ancient ancestors we can become better ourselves. It is also important because it is about war. War is an inevitable part of human society and for future generation to understand its costs, its triumphs and its tragedies, they must read proto literature such as this.

After hearing the Podcast, I believe that The Iliad does still matter. It still matters because it has many different morals and ideas that have carried on to our society today and without them, our lives could be very different. One of these ideas is the brutality of war. War has not changed since this story was written in the way that it still can change someone in how it is so terrible. The description of battles in this story was a very good description of what happened in war and it was able to show people what really happened during these times and what can still happen in modern day war. It also really helped change literature both in ancient times and in modern times. It was somewhat of a forefront of what literature can be.

Yes, I think that the Iliad still matters. All of the emotional themes such as loss, death, agony, and pride are still extremely relevant themes today. Regardless of how different our world is from Ancient Greece, it all goes back to humanity, the same emotions we share, that we won't stop sharing. Yes the Iliad is an old story and yes some of it can be viewed as outdated, but people today can still relate to it just as well as in the past, whether it be the emotional aspect, the war and violence aspect, or the aspect of loss.

Although the Iliad has contributed a great deal to literature, it lacks importance today. It does not matter today as much as it mattered yesterday. The Iliad influenced writers and authors by opening up an entirely new world of possibilities but today the ability to relate to a story like this doesn't exist. This story was written about greek war heroes which relates to war today and has helped inspire imaginations of multiple famous authors and poets today but its relevance to everyday people today ceases to exist. Rarely anyone explores the Iliad except for educational purposes or unless they have a passion for it. The lack of education behind a story like this means that it is something left in the past that has no effect on people today if they don't know about it.

Yes, the Iliad still matters to this day. Going back all the way to ancient Greece, we still relate with them regarding loss, war, death, and so on still today. So I think that people still really think that the Iliad is still a story that humans can relate back to no matter what. People are still writing about it and relating back to it throughout education, for fun, and more.

The Iliad is very important to literary minds today. It allows people to gain knowledge about how people might have lived back then or how they payed homage to the gods or how they acted towards each other. This is able to keep kids learning through the generations, this is very true because my mother and grandmother read it when they were in school and know I have.
