Greek mythology is shown in many different stories but I especially see greek mythology in Star wars. The dark side of the force has been shown as a god like family with deaths, betrayals, and new rulerships. I see Darth Vader or the emperor in the first series of star Wars to be Cronus and then relate Kylo Ren to Zeus who later takes power in a less successful way than zeus.

There is a common theme of family. The hero's go through many challenges and struggles. I also see that sometimes the bad guy looks much stronger and almost undefeatable.

Yes I see Greek mythology in star wars because everyone is fighting for something and is always protecting a loved one or sacrifices for their love.

This storyline is based off of heroic myths. They have all the ideals that make up every good heroic story. Hero doesn't know his father, sent off to be raised by people that aren't his parents. Then there is the conflict and what pushes the hero to go ahead and become what he was supposed to. Then the hero will be able to find out a deep secret about himself or another. This is the outline for many heroic stories and a lot of mythology heroic stories.

Greek mythology is like star wars because of some of the similarities like the hero, villian, task having to be completed, and that when people struggle other people go in and try to help. Another similarity is the relationship aspect on how people use or become entranced with each other.

Yes, I can compare Luke Skywalker having to slay his evil father Darth Vader just like how Zeus killed his father Cronos. There are many heroic elements showed throughout Star Wars and Greek Mythology.

Yes there is a mythology to Star Wars. The original series is a prime example of the hero's journey with Luke. I like the prequel storyline the best because it takes more abstract mythological ideas. Anakin follows the hero's journey but not in the traditional, boring sense. Anakin also has prophetic elements like Achilles or Macbeth and he shares some characteristics with the Christian story of Jesus, such as the virgin mother, but this idea is unclear and could be attributed to darker ideas.

There is definitely mythology in Star Wars. The first episodes (Episode 4,5,6) are filled with it. There is a lot of fantasy involved. For example, Luke goes on a journey almost to find glory. Just like many greek characters. Luke's journey is very abstract. There are aspects of the bible in the story of star wars.

There is a lot of mythology characteristics that are show in Star Wars. THere are many of the heroic code elements that are shown in Star Wars. Obi-Wan Kenobi was telling Luke to find his inner-self, and that is something that many Greek Myth characters are trying to do throughout all of the stories. Also, Luke fighting his father Darth Vader is like Zeus having to fight his father Cronus.

Greek mythology is present everywhere in society.I think greek myths are more like lessons than stories of creation. Every myth had a purpose and a greater meaning for things, so the myth might not be true, but the lessons are universal for everyone. In Star Wars there is reference to a hierarchy of power. For example, Darth Vader is more powerful than Luke, but just as Zeus, Luke will try to beat his father.

Yes, Star Wars includes mythology. It has created a hybrid of several different religions, cultures, and myths, such as Christianity, Buddhism, Asian culture, and of course Greek Mythology. There is also the idea of the Hero's Journey in Star Wars which makes sense since George Lucas and Joseph Cambell, the creator of the Hero's Journey were close friends. The idea of family fights and difficulty is common in Greek Mythology and Star Wars. Zeus and Cronus share a similar rival and father/son relationship also portrayed by Luke and Darth Vader. I also saw the concept of battling with darkness seen with almost every Jedi in Star Wars when they are tempted into "going to the dark side." Just like when Hercules is in a fit of insanity and kills his entire family or Medea kills her ex husbands wife and their children.

After seeing the Star Wars clip, I was able to see many connections with Greek mythology. One way is how when Luke Skywalker was told to kill his father. This can relate to how Zeus needed to kill his father Cronos. Also how the dark side can be portrayed to some as the gods in Greek mythology because they are sometimes evil in the way that they do things only to benefit themselves, not mortals.

Stars Wars possess mythological influence because it exemplifies heroism, higher powers, and a heroes journey. Luke like many greek heroes leaves home to pursue a greater meaning of life and takes on multiple tasks to reach this destination of self knowledge and accomplishing the greater good. Jason was sent to steal the Golden Fleece and Perseus was sent to retrieve the head of Medusa. Greek society identified both of them as heroes if not some of the greatest. Star Wars also shows the idea of supreme beings like Yoda, Darth Vader, or the force. The force can be related to godly powers that guide heroes on their way.

There are definitely elements of Greek Mythology in Star Wars, and is shown through the relationships between the characters. There are conflicts inside families in Star Wars through Luke and his father, as well as in Greek Mythology. However, in Star wars there are two clear sides to the conflicts, but in Greek Mythology the gods don't have 2 specific sides. Also, the heroic code is shown in Star Wars. Many characters are fighting for honor in Star Wars, which is what the heroic code defines as a hero.

Being a Star Wars lover for most of my life, I never realized how much it related back to mythology. We can definitely see all aspects of the heroic code throughout the movies. Hubris is displayed by Luke's father just like Chronos displayed, where they over estimated their own power and destroyed themselves. We also see acts of heroism through Luke when he goes and faces his father when he is nowhere near prepared.

After watching the video on star wars and mythology I can see clearly that there is, in fact, a lot of mythology in Star Wars. Just that fact that it follows the hero's journey or the fact that it takes old myths and gives them a more modern feel. There is a reason that Star Wars is such a huge seller. It takes the myth style that even now so many of us love to watch and follow and revamps it in a way that is special to it alone. You can see the pattern that comes in in different shapes and forms you could look at it as Anakin is like Achilles or look at like Darth Vader and the emperor as Cronus and Kylo Ren being Zeus. This shows the idea of the overthrow of power just like Greek mythology. This will help me see patterns in different literature and see the fact that everything is in a connected loop. We keep going back to greek ideas even if we don’t mean to. This better gives me the sight in order to find those ideas.
