Odysseus is my favorite Greek hero because he has the quality of metis. The story of the cyclopes is a great example of his cunning. Ideas of guest host relationships are addressed, hubris and heroic honor but Odysseus is able to overcome all these relationships and his issues through his intelligence, good or bad. This is why I enjoy the character so much, because he does not need strength or courage but rather his mind. And although he may be selfish or immoral, his cleverness does save home from numerous dangers.

I noticed that there are many similarities between the two. One of those similarities was how they men used a stick to blind the Polyphemus. However, in the book the men strap themselves to the bottom of sheep to leave while a few of them escape through the side and others are killed in the process, which shows a difference in the two.

These stories were similar but all together different from each other.
