The director was trying to use his idea of mythology and allow characters to get out of bad sports through this mythology. Destiny, friends, battles, are all different themes of mythology that are apparent in star wars. The color was used to portray which characters were good or bad, darker colors for villains and lighter ones for heroes. In the outfits that the characters wore, they used inspiration from Asia to decorate the clothing people wore.
In my opinion, there is a great amount of myth in the Star Wars stories and lots of the myth can be connected back to Greek mythology. An example of a myth in Star Wars is Luke Skywalker, a person who started from nothing and became a great hero that can defeat anything. This relates to the Greek myth of Perseus, he had been a hero that started from nothing and became a great hero by defeating one evil. Luke had killed the emperor and Perseus had killed medusa the great Gorgon, both of the heroes definitely relate. Greek mythology and Star Wars mythology can be connected by many characters and themes, showing that good stories often connect to old mythos.
There is mythology in Star Wars. In the dominance of power in men, the good guys are good guys and the bad guys stay the bad guys. Tatueene is the earth, and the death star and the empire can be Tartarus, filled with evil, filled with no color, black or white, and a dash or red (royalty, blood, vengeance). I will take the heroic elements of a hero, the different characteristics of the gods and goddesses and the different parts of mythology in the present day. I don't have any questions about Greek mythology at the moment.
I think that Star Wars has it's own type of mythology, and I think that's why it's such a popular franchise. Since it has it's own world, and a way for people to escape the regular world is why they watch the movies. It gives people a second life in their view. I see a lot of journeys with certain actions that need to happen to the character. Now that I have seen the different stories, and I know the story line of a hero, I will be able to notice where the different stories have the same base story line.
It talked about how people choose between good and bad. It also talks about the different themes displayed in the films like the idea of destiny, relationships, use of colors, display of characters, etc. George Lucas used the idea of evil characters from different beliefs to created the evil persona of the characters.
I think that Star Wars sets up its own mythology. Obviously it doesn't resemble greek mythology, but the Star Wars director does a good job of setting up its own myth. I will take away the heroic greek gods.I will use the heroes journey to examine stories.
Some patterns that show inside Star Wars that relate to mythology is that the hero's in there have many of the heroic qualities, it may not be God influenced, but they are father-son influenced which is almost God-Hero influenced. Another relation in the Greek mythologies to Star Wars is when Jedi Masters die, they turn into immortal ghosts.
Greek mythology is like star wars because of some of the similarities like the hero, villian, task having to be completed, and that when people struggle other people go in and try to help. Another similarity is the relationship aspect on how people use or become entranced with each other.
Though I have never seen starwars I believe it may represent greek mythology in a power sort of way. People challenge other people for power and or change. When Zeus goes against his father, and when Luke goes against his. They both are not happy with the way things are run and have to battle for the 'thrown.' It just seems like a lot of the same patterns occur. Also, I'm like 50% sure Luke kisses his sister which Zeus marries and has kids with a lot of his sisters.
