I think that The Iliad and The Odyssey are a lot more relevant to todays world and that we find them a lot more interesting now than we did before. Vets also reading about The Odyssey helps them cope and for them, reading the Odyssey is enjoyable because it is very interesting and how they can relate to the war that is mentioned in The Iliad and The Odyssey.

The Iliad and the Odyssey are timeless stories that can be used to assist generation after generation. In the audio clip, we see the stories being used to help guide veterans with PTSD. We can take the lessons of grief and perseverance from these tales and take wisdom. These stories are not just about Greeks and ancient gods, these were stories written by people of the time to explain complex emotions and situations. Just as stories today are written to relate to people, the stories of then had the same purpose. They are meant for the reader to take knowledge and comfort from. It is not only a a way to escape reality, but to guide us through uncertain and tough times.
