A heroic element that happens is overcoming obstacles, the trojan war had been going on 10 years, and with the idea of giving a gift left the trojans completely unaware. Odysseus overcame the obstacle to complete the heroes journey.

The Simpson's Odyssey clip portrays the theme of hubris from the Heroic Code when the Homer Odysseus decides not to sacrifice an animal for the Gods after being victorious in Troy. Because of his ego his journey is extremely prolonged due to the Gods being upset.

One specific Heroic code that is seen in this clip is using wit and strategy to overcome an obstacle. In this case it was defeating Troy. It also shows aspects from the Gods and if they are not treated with respect they put more obstacles in the way. Another aspect from the heroic code was the Homecoming. Odysseus has glory meeting his wife again for 20 years.

In the parody they depict the story very well by showing the wooden horse that they lead into the City of Troy. After they show how off course the gods drove them when they refused to do a sacrifice. This video also shows the length of time in the hero's journey because they are gone for years and his wife is starting to wonder if she should choose a suitor and forget about her husband.

One heroic element it shows in the video is having help from friends and other people and throughout the journey he leaves them. I think that its satirical because in this story he didn't get any help from gods and he suffered a lot of set backs but still made it through.

The Simpsons video clip is a parody of The Odyssey in many different ways. A big way is when the Greeks brought the wooden horse and the Trojans joked that they had all of the wooden animals except a horse so they allowed it into their city. Also when their voyage took them to Circe and they drank the green drink that turned them into pigs. The satirical part to this was when Homer ended up eating all of his friends. The part of the heroic code that this relates to this is hubris when Homer decides that he doesn’t want to sacrifice an animal to the gods after the victory in Troy. This is the main reason that their journey takes longer because they upset the gods and the gods push them off course.

The Simpsons parody of the Odyssey followed the basic plot points and aspects of the original story, keeping the elements of story telling and aspects of the heroic code. There were many trials that the characters had to overcome, such as the island of sirens and the island of Cerce.

In the Simpson's version of the odyssey, you can see that the only reason this happened is because Odysseus did not properly thank the gods. I think this could fall under the guest/host relationship because the gods helped Odysseus out and he did treat them with the respect they thought they deserved. This is a parody because they make it very sarcastic and unrealistic, like Dionysus drunk in Olympus.

The Simpsons clip was a parody of the Odyssey as it took the story of the Odyssey and shortened it and made it more funny. It did still show guest/host relationship because whatever island they went to they were guests to whoever lived on the island. They were not always treated well, but they were always guests. This did reflect the actual story somewhat because many of the characters were the same and there were elements about those characters that aligned with the story.

It is a parody of the Odyssey because it tells the general story of the Odyssey but with humor added to it. They also added modern references like the River Styx being a river of the band Styx. The heroic code is shown in this because the warriors in the wooden horse needed bravery, because they could have been discovered and killed.

The Simpsons clip is a parody of the Odyssey and of the heroes because it adds comedic elements in every part of the Iliad and the Odyssey. It brings humor to the raising of Troy, takes the idea of xenia on Circe's and makes it funny when Homer eats his friends because they are pigs. It also pokes fun at the gods on olympus and their pettiness.

The Simpsons' video clip was a parody of The Odyssey and heroes in Greek mythology by adding humor to the plot line. It also exaggerated the characteristics of a hero in Greek mythology. It showed the guest/host relationship and Xenia because they were always guests and welcome to the hosts on the islands.

The Simpsons' video clip is a parody or satire of the Odyssey and heroes in Greek Mythology through its hilarious nature and twisting the plot of the Odyssey to match a cartoon style film. This parody makes fun of the heroic element of Odysseus by giving Odysseus a sarcastic and naive personality as he interacts with his hosts and the whole journey. In his interaction with Circe, she turned all his travelers to pigs and in the Simpsons’ version had Odysseus eat them. This plays to the satirical adaptation of Odysseus in the simpsons’ by showing how naive and thoughtless he is through his journey. He is first to think of himself as a guest than his own friends.

According to Heroic code of the Simpsons video clip, this parody makes a effort of showing Guest providing conversation and Internal/ External compassion because of the family being together which brings the adaption of the Odyssey.

In the Simpson's version of the odyssey you can see that the only reason that is given why this has happened is because Odysseus did not properly thank the gods. They also added modern references like when he crosses the River Styx being a river with singing from the band Styx. The heroic code is shown in this because the warriors because they were willing to follow Odysseus until their demise. Which in the simpsons version he eats his men because they were turned to pigs.

The Simpsons clip that is a paradox to the Odyssey is similar in some ways. The main idea is very accurate but many details are left out. The Simpsons go for more of a comedic effect compared to the original Odyssey.

While watching this video, I love the concept of xenia, an idea of hospitality and generosity to travelers who are not near their home. Almost like a guaranteed friend and safe place to rest. Diomedes and Glaucus were at war with each other then realized that their grandfathers at one point in their lives had hosted each other as guests. Because of this friendship the two put aside their differences and pride. Although war was a huge factor of life during this time, there could be a relationship between a traveler guest and a host hero.

The Simpsons' video clip was a parody of The Odyssey and heroes in Greek mythology by adding humor to the plot line. Throughout the entire clip, you can see that every chance that they get they make fun of what they can. Whether it was the pigs that he ate that were his friends or the massive amount of wooden statues that the Trojans didn’t actually have. They put humor wherever they could. It also Exaggerates a lot of events and people through Greek mythology. It shows Xenia because of the fact that they were always guests and were welcomed by the hosts on the islands.
