I believe that Perseus is more heroic than Jason, because he was fighting to save his mother, while Jason was fighting to become king. Perseus' cause was much more selfless. Also, Jason had the help of Medea and others, but Perseus did all of the fighting by himself. Perseus' reason for fighting, and his bravery for going by himself is what makes me believe that Perseus is more heroic than Jason.

I think that Perseus is more heroic than Jason because Jason ultimately betrayed Medea, the woman who helped him the most with his quest. Without Medea, Jason would not have had success on his journey, as she told him many secrets about how to overcome his obstacles, such as how to overcome the army of skeletons. During the quest, Jason promised Medea that he would marry her, but then later broke his promise, "And then Jason showed the meanness that was in him, brilliant hero though he had seemed to be: he engaged himself to marry the daughter of the King of Corinth". This shows Jason's true sinister character, and how he was a bad hero. Perseus, on the other hand, went on a quest to bring back Medusa's head because he wanted to see his mother again. He had some help from Hermes and Athena, but mainly completed the journey by himself, without betrayal.

I would have to say that Perseus is the more heroic figure. The main reason why I believe this is because Perseus is fighting to save his mother from the king while Jason is only fighting for himself to become king. Also, Jason was able to have Madea to fight with while Perseus was all alone and did all of his fighting on his own. Part of the heroic code is fighting for something other that yourself. This is exactly what Perseus did, he fought for the freedom of his mother. Jason was not the same because he was not fighting for anyone but himself.

Jason was more heroic than Perseus I think because he had many qualities that were less than noble about him. Such as obstacles in the quest for the golden fleece he was able to overcome the island where only women lived, the harpies and the fire breathing dragon. Jason was also more in glory, spoils and immorality than Perseus was. According to Perseus he had more of personal interest of helping I think. Like he was a standard hero but his character flaws knowing what he know he had to do on his adventure; in doing the right thing wasn't as heroic than Jason was.

I believe that the story of Perseus was more heroic than Jason. Jason betrayed Madea which is something a true hero would never consider. Perseus never betrayed anyone who assisted him in his quest. Also, Perseus fought Medusa and returned with her head to save his mother, not himself. He put himself before others and that is part of the heroic code.

I think Perseus is more heroic because he did it all by himself where as Jason had his whole group of people to help him out and overcome obstacles along the way. It also seemed Jason was only interested in the journey because it would make him look better and he could possible have a shot at being the king. But, Perseus was in it just to do it and step up to be the hero. Jason also broke Madea's trust when he told her he would marry her after the journey but he completely bailed and broke his promise.

Perseus is more heroic than Jason. He is more heroic because of his purpose for going on his journey. Perseus went to save his mother whereas Jason went to become king. Jason is also less heroic because he was a terrible guest (the host was terrible too) and the only reason he survived was because of Medea. Perseus is a more honorable and heroic than Jason.

I believe that Perseus is a much better hero than Jason because he is going on this Hero's Journey to save his mother whilst Jason is going on his adventure for self right reasons, he believes he should rule the land that he is heir to. Also Perseus although getting some help from the gods ultimately goes on his journey alone while Jason has his entire team of argonauts. Finally, in the end Perseus does end up helping his mother, while Jason betrays the one person who helped him the most, Medea. It is stated in "The Quest of the Golden Fleece" that "... Medea had plenty of intelligence. She wasted no more words upon him except to refuse his gold. She would take nothing, no help from him. Jason flung away angrily from her." (134-135)

I believe that Perseus is much more heroic than Jason for a few different reasons. First of all, Perseus was fighting for his mother and trying to save her. On the other hand, Jason is going on the adventure for more selfish reasons like trying to show that he is the heir to the land. Also, Peresus completed his journeymore on his own while Jason had help from others to get what he wanted. Overall, Perseus is selfless while Jason is more selfish which makes him less of a hero than Perseus.

I believe Jason is more heroic than Perseus because he has less help from the gods. Perseus and his quest is nearly all guided by Hermes and Athena. The sword, the shield and the sandals are all gifted to him. Jason on the other hand does not have so much divine help. The idea of assembling a team of mortal heroes for a quest is much more heroic. Although Jason has some divine influence with Medea, for the most part, his journey is a greater struggle. Both heroes follow the heroic code, with exceptions here and there but I'd still have to favor Jason.

Based on the story, Perseus shows more heroic qualities than Jason. In the story, Jason goes off to fulfill self need while Perseus is on a journey to save his mother. Jason's actions will not be shown as heroic as Perseus because he is try to do something that will benefit no-one but himself. Even with help from his gold friends it was his life that he put on the line and he deserves the recognition of a hero.

I think Jason is more heroic than Perseus because although his selfish desire to be throned lead to his heroism, he completed each task on his own. Perseus, because his actions were selfless and not meant to prove himself, was less heroic as he also had help along the way. He was given a helmet and weapons to protect himself against threats whereas Jason only had the moral support of a the goddess Hera. The heroic code refers to hubris as a heroic trait. Hubris means pride and the knowledge of one’s self worth. Through Jason’s journey he exemplifies a lot of self confidence and pride because he believes in himself where Perseus may also believe the same thing but with a diminished self confidence due to how much aid he has.

I feel Perseus was more heroic than Jason. Jason was fighting to become king, whereas Perseus was fighting to save his mother. I think that Jason kind of had his quest easy, everything was kind of laid out for him and Perseus actually had to go out and do these things and find certain things on his own with some help.

IN my opinion, I feel like Perseus was more heroic then jason. I say that because Jason was fighting for a spot trying to become a king . Jason's road was easy as a person, but on the other hand Perseus had to go out and get it as a person.

I feel that they are equally both heroic because they both have their reasons and whys of doing things. BAsed on each character there reasons for fighting are equally reasonable. Neither had a easy life and both came out on the other side.

I believe that Perseus was more heroic because he was more widely known as the son of Zeus and the slayer of Medusa. But he had Help from his brother and sister, Hermes and Athena. Even then Jason had more help than Perseus, he not only had people to help him through the entire journey and also someone that helped him through the most difficult task. While all that happened all of the help Jason got perseus only got flying shoes and a shield from Athena and Hermes the rest he did on his own. That is why I believe Perseus was more heroic.

I believe Perseus is more heroic than Jason based on the heroic code. Jason simply does what he has to do to survive (ie. fighting the dragon to get the fleece) but Perseus brings back the head of Medusa for recognition and to save a loved one. It is said many have tried to retrieve the head but none have succeed until Perseus. page 154 of Myth and you is used as an example to show Perseus's desire to pursue excellence "Medusa's head was given to Athena, who bore It always upon the aegis, Zeus's shield, which she carried for him.". It is clear to me that Perseus had a more heroic intend to his quest than Jason and the Golden Fleece. Though both should be honored for their triumphs, Perseus's quest was more dangerous and glorifying.

I think that Perseus is more heroic then Jason because Perseus wanted to help his mother and get revenge almost for his father and get his right full throne back where as Jason did his quest just so he could become a leader. I think that also Jason abused his use of help when perseus found things to help him and killed medusa which is a lot more heroic then just getting a fleece.

Perseus is the better hero is many aspects. Jason uses a lot of help from Medea and Perseus receives help. They both are favored but it seems as tho Jason abused the help he was receiving because Medea went crazy in the end.

Perseus is more heroic than Jason is because he wasn't as selfish and didn't use people use people to get what he wanted. Jason wanted to obtain the golden fleece for himself whereas Perseus was trying to get his mother back. Although Jason had help from the gods he still used, manipulated, and killed many people. Perseus had been given items to help him obtain Medusa's head he still had to be the one to kill her. Jason had been helped the whole way from the gods making Medea fall in love with Jason so that she would help them and ultimately did whatever needed to be done. So Perseus' quest was harder on him than Jason's adventure was so, therefore, Jason is not as heroic than Perseus.

I think Perseus is much more heroic than Jason. Jason had a lot of help from other gods whereas Perseus was by himself in his adventures. Also Perues reasons where much more honorable, he was fighting to save his mother and on the other hand Jason was fighting for more selfish and materialistic reasons, land.

I believe that Perseus is more heroic because of my own definition of heroism. You can easily argue either or being more heroic however in my eyes Perseus is more heroic. He was fighting for someone else. While Jason is heroic in his own ways, I find selflessness to be more of a heroic quality than selfishness therefore in my eyes Perseus is more heroic.

I believe that Jason is the more heroic between Jason and Perseus. This is because of the fact that when you look at the 2 heroes side by side. The reasoning and what exactly they did stacks up more in the favor of Jason. Looking at it if you look at their stories Perseus goes off and tries to cut off the head of Medusa in order to save his mother from marrying Polydectes. This is the reason that he end up going out and trying to kill Medusa. Jason in order to take the throne from Pelias. This is how the journey starts. Also looking at comparing the two of them Jason gets on a ship and sails off into the world in order to get back the golden fleece through his adventure he faces many dangerous and many things that he must act. Wile Perseus only really faces 1. Jason had to deal with the skeletons, harpies, sirens, and hydra. All of which were different tasks. Not to mention the fact that there was a plethora of other tasks that Medea had to help him with. Then there is also the fact that Perseus had a lot of divine help. It was almost as if they did his job for him. They gave him the mirror shield. The shoes, the bag to care the head and the sword. All of which they guided him and kept him safe. While looking at Jason he only had the help of cupid to get Media to fall for him. That’s about it. Then looking at the hero's code which refers to hubris as a heroic trait. Hubris means pride and the knowledge of one’s self worth. Looking at the 2 you can see a lot of self-worth and pride in Jason, however, Perseus might have some but it’s not as strong as Jason due to the level of aid he got.
