In the video, they mentioned the odyssey to the moon and how the captain named the space ship odyssey after he searched the definition of the odyssey, in time BC. they mention the largest odyssey and the 1000 ships, the battle with the wooden horse, and how long the war lasted. they talked about how the trip should have taken 2 weeks and it ended up taking over 10 years, this is definitely an odyssey.

What makes me contemplate regarding archetypal patterns would be when the heroes worry more about their ego than the other people that they hurt to keep their ego where they like it. When the hero thinks about how they slayed a beast but they do not remember the people that went before him to get him to that point.

Odysseus has to pass "tests" to get home to his wife. During the Trojan war, Odysseus created the Trojan horse which created the saying "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, or gifts bearing Greeks." Odysseus gets into the cyclops Polyphemus' lair by saying his name is no man, but when he escapes by blinding him Odysseus just has to yell out his name saying that he was the one that blinded Polyphemus. The action brought Posiden the father of Polyphemus and god of the sea right to Odysseus and his men. Posiden put the men through many trials at sea and kept Odysseus from returning home. Odysseus could have avoided all of this is not for his huge ego. This just makes me think about all heroes. Most of these heroes suffer greatly from their ego and could have avoided a lot of extra trouble if not for their ego.

People are always cast out by the oracles predictions and it always makes the prediction true when they are cast out. We see this is the perseus text and the iliad and the odyssey. People in our society want recognition like Odysseus when he tells the cyclops he blinded him. Most of the heroes so far have been held back by their own ego or greed. The heroes don't often follow the hero code but they are remembered for the good they did and not the bad. Myths are there to either teach you a lesson or explain something unknown. People relate they myths to modern day life like the rocket named odyssey.

All Hero’s stories have the same plot. All hero’s go on the same journey. They all have a goal to accomplish but they each run into multiple obstacles. Each story is different but each goes through some obstacles, fear, and tests that the hero has to overcome. Each story shows how much perseverance, boldness, and courage each hero has. Each and every hero chooses their paths and the consequences that go along with it. These kinds of actions that lead to pride that each hero has. The heroes and others think of them as a “god”. Each hero faces judgment and bad consequences, but each has to decide how they want to handle the situation/ will it defeat them or will they defeat it? In the end, we all have our exploration/adventures to finish.

Each story tells a different lesson, but they all have the same basic plot... Most Heroes leave home in hopes to come back with fame, fortune, etc... but typically they come back with something they didn't expect. Many heroes have their downfalls, most is their excessive pride, but they always overcome it. Readers can see who the hero really is, but the people of Greece see the heroes as a god. Many heroes have help from the gods, but still rely on their own wits and strength for survival.

This story made me realize that most if not all of these stories have almost identical plot lines. It's very interesting how the heroes journey affects all of these tales. The only difference in each is how the story ends. After overcoming whatever conflict there was in the beginning of the story, the hero comes back, having learned a new lesson, and becomes a legend. It's the lesson they learn that changes, and each story is fit to help push that lesson forward.

Lots of stories tell a different lesson but they stick to the same plot. Most heroes set out on a quest or adventure and hope to come back rich and famous. Most heroes eventually die but are remembered and celebrated. They also usually get help from the gods but still reply on their own talent.-Derek Scheid

I think that this video emphasized the uniformity of the hero's journey. Even though the stories have different journeys, they always have to go do a task, and then face lots of tasks to prove themselves. Heroes are respected because everybody knows about their journey and celebrates them wether they come home or not.

Stories always end the same. same plot but different characters. Every hero is remembered in different ways, but always known as a hero no matter what.

This video mentioned oddyseus and how he was a very mortal and a liar. Odysses' are about the journey to and back. It talks how the oddysey to troy should have been 2 weeks but instead took 10 years. This shows that each hero has there own journey and they have to do something special for them to get remembered.

All heroes follow the kind of same path. They leave where they're from to do their quest or to get something, but it usually ends in betrayal, either the here betrayed his friends or he was betrayed.
