Perseus is more heroic due to the fact that he is not on the journey for himself whereas Jason is. Perseus sets out on his journey so that his mother will be released and in order for this to happen he must cut off Medusa's head and return to is mothers capturer. When he returns he turns the man to stone and is happily reunited with his mother. Unlike Perseus, Jason goes on his journey so that he may be king.

I would tend to argue that Perseus is more heroic than Jason. This is based upon how the stories end. In Jason he betrayed those who loves him and only looks to serve himself. While in Perseus his ultimate goal is to help this whom he cares about and sacrifices a lot for their good. “They carried her away through the air out of his sight as he cursed her, never himself, for what had come to pass” (130, Jason) Jason Andy looks for his wellbeing and this is shown in the way his story ends with unhappiness. As we have learned a hero is more interested in helping others or gaining something to further humanity. In contrast we see the happy ending of Perseus and give it credit to his heroic works and need to put others first. “Perseus and Andromeda lived happily ever after. Their son, Electryon, was the grandfather of Hercules.” (148, Perseus)
Though by today's standards I think that they both would not be considered heroes. Both of these characters kill people unnecessarily and only look out for their selfish wants. Heroic acts today and people who will do anything for the sake of others and their wellbeing.

I would say that Perseus is more heroic simply because he leaves a greater legacy behind than Jason. Jason embarks on the greatest quest ever with an A-team of heroic figures like Hercules and Orpheus but in the end the Golden Fleece is forgotten because Jason indirectly caused the death of his children through Medea's anger at him. Perseus however goes on an adventure and brings back Medusa's head on his own, and then lives a happy life afterward with Andromeda. Both of these heroes' journeys revolve around items; the Golden Fleece and Medusa's head but the reasons for getting them were very different. Jason wanted to retrieve the Fleece so that he could dethrone the usurper and rule as a king while Perseus kills Medusa and retrieves her head to help save his mother from a marriage she didn't want. Perseus didn't go looking for glory like Jason had, and because of that Perseus is the more heroic figure of the two.

Perseus is more heroic than Jason. I believe this because a true hero will do anything for a person they love and that's exactly what Perseus did. He was willing to kill Medusa to set his mom free. Jason was on his mission all for himself. A true hero doesn't do acts of kindness and such for themselves, they do it for the people around them. Jason's acts of bravery were simply just to make himself king. I see Jason as a very strong, independent, and well driven person because he is so determined to reach his goals. Perseus is a caring, loving, and compassionate person that will fight to the ends of the earth for the people he loves.

Perseus is heroic because he is not selfish like Jason. Perseus goes on this adventure to save someone who was less capable to save themselves. Jason went on the journey himself for himself he did have people to help him out. Perseus had help from the gods because he was worthy to kill this beast.

I believe that Perseus is more heroic than Jason because he shows the true characteristics of a hero. The courage and perserverance he shows to defeat Medusa is why I think he is more heroic. The true meaning behind his heroic journey shows more nobility, and character than Jason's ever did. "Perseus and Andromeda lived happily ever after." (208) This quote described that Perseus journey brought him internal happiness, and a rewards once completed. Jason's jounrey brought anger to him and unhappiness in following years. Heroes leave lasting legacy on the world and Pursues did this. Peruses ultimate goal is to serve others around him and live a selfless life.

I think that Perseus is more heroic than Jason. Jason goes on his heroic mission just so he can regain a throne, where he did not show all the aspects of the heroic code. Jason was not brave enough to want to tackle the mission of finding the golden fleece alone. He instead had a whole crowd of men, while Perseus was willing to go on his mission alone, and would have, but he had help from the gods. Also, when Jason returns from his mission to get the golden fleece and finds out that the king had killed his mom and dad, all that he wants to do is punish the king for his acts, which is not a heroic thing to do. Jason has Medea get revenge for him as well, which also shows how he is not as brave as some think.

I would say Perseus since he slayed medusa the woman who could turn people to stone he did it to save his mother not like Jason who just did it for the crown of a kingdom. Perseus defeated the medusa alone while Jason did it with the help of a fair madien.

Perseus is more heroic than Jason, because he defeats medusa, not for his own personal gain like Jason, who was trying to take the throne for himself where as Perseus was killing a terrible monster for his mother.

I believe that Perseus is more heroic than Jason. I do not think that Jason fulfills all aspects of the heroic code. Jason risks the lives of others, and had a selfish reason for putting those lives at risk. Perseus was willing to travel alone, with the help of the gods, and displayed all traits of the heroic code.

I think Perseus is more heroic than Jason for many reasons. Perseus was on a quest to save his mother from getting married to a king that his mother did not want to marry. He was protecting his mother. Jason was very selfish. He wanted the throne and was willing to do anything to get power. He used his wife Medea for her magic so she can help them but once he successfully used her he left her. He did not care how she felt about anything. Perseus didn't use anyone he did this for his mother and just wanted to help. He received help but never asked or took that help for granted. Jason took many men and would not let them the credit he used them solely to help complete the task. Perseus did this alone and did not want anyone else to get hurt for this was his task. Overall Perseus is definitely more heroic and selfless than Jason.

Both Jason and Perseus are very heroic, but I would say Persia is more heroic. Perseus had to get Medusa's head without looking at her. She was a very intimidating women and when she would look someone in the eyes, they would turn to stone. Perseus used the reflection off his shield to see what he was doing and he does get Medusa's head. In my opinion, it doesn't get more heroic than that.

Perseus is more of a hero because he did what he did courageously and for someone else (his mom). Jason, on the other hand, seemed really selfish and had a lot of hubris. I think the general understanding of heroes includes doing good for others, and usually at least some level of selflessness. Perseus set off on his mission alone, and because of his bravery/purpose the gods felt he was worth helping.

I believe that Perseus is way more heroic that Jason because, while Jason went on a dangerous mission to gain his rightful place at throne he knew was his. While he did encounter many dangerous, life threatening challenges he had the daughter to help him, gave him the cheats on how to defeat them. Perseus on the other hand said that he would bring the king the head of Medusa, not knowing how to do it or accomplish it he went in and defeated Medusa, without getting turned to stone, he had help, although they didn't even know how to defeat her. All in all, Perseus is more heroic because he is braver and stronger than Jason.

Perseus was more heroic than Jason because Jason got help from many other people while Perseus did not. Also, Perseus killed monsters while on a mission but Jason killed people for revenge.

I think Perseus is more heroic than Jason simply because of the reasons behind their adventures and heroic acts. Perseus says he will bring back the head of Medusa to save his mother from the king. He has no need to be seen as a hero for this act, he simply knows what he must do to save someone. Jason went after the Golden Fleece to over throw the former king and claim his rightful place on the throne. He suffered from hubris, holding too much pride in what he was doing. He had many brave accomplices but they were all after one goal, the glory of bringing back the Golden Fleece.

I think Perseus is more heroic than Jason. In my opinion, a true hero is measured by the willingness one has to sacrifice their selfish nature in order to act selflessly for those that they love. Although both Jason and Perseus accomplish great things, being a hero all depends on the intentions of the character. Jason was successful but he went on the journey for himself. A few years later he ended up unhappy and unsatisfies which shows it wasn't enough for him to go on the journey just for himself. A true hero has integrity and would try to succeed even if they knew they wouldn't be directly rewarded.

Perseus is more heroic than Jason because Perseus is selfless. Perseus not only goes on the quest to kill Medusa in order to save his mother, but he also performs this daring feat to retrieve a wedding gift for King Polydectes. Perseus does so because he was embarrassed when he arrived with no gift to give. To avoid humiliation and disgrace, Perseus sets out to behead Medusa. This is just one example of Perseus upholding the “Heroic Code”. Jason simply goes on his quest for the golden fleece in order to become king. He shows more selfishness when he returns from his quest and abandons Medea and his children for another princess. However, when Perseus returns, he turns Polydectes and his followers to stone, and the islanders were, “freed from the tyrant” (153). Perseus’ quest benefited many people, but Jason’s quest didn’t benefit anyone in the end.

I believe that Perseus is more of a hero then Jason because being a hero is being selfless and protecting others who may not have the ability to do it themselves. Perseus goes out on a quest to defeat medusa in order to help is mother not marry somebody that she really didn't want to. Jason on the other hand showed a lot of selfish behavior and showed hubris on his adventure. Perseus also set out on his adventure all alone and didn't bring along a team like Jason did.

I think Perseus is more of a hero because he killed Medusa for his mom but Jason did things for his own personal gain. Through both stories Jason and Perseus are very powerful and over come great challenges but their reasons for over coming these challenges were totally different and that is what makes Perseus more of a hero.

I think that Perseus is more heroic then Jason because the task of getting medusas head is terrifying to me and also that he shows qualities of selflessness. They both have to fulfill heroic tasks and challenges which make them both incredibly courageous but the tasks and the way he achieves them to me makes Perseus way more heroic.

I believe that Perseus is more heroic than Jason because he went out to save his mother rather than going out just to be heroic. He overcame a challenge that could have killed him and hurt his mother and he still went out and did what he had to do to save his mom.
