This man and his extreme exploits relate to mine only slightly. the only real connectible idea is the one that to truly succeed in life, one must take risks. The man in the video risked injury and possibly death to achieve what he wanted to, and now he has millions of views on you tube. While views seems a poor way to measure success, the same principle applies. Willingness to take risks is the sure sign of a successful or influential person.
Danny MacAskill did inspire me. His movies are strangely beautiful, and they instill a certain sense of freedom in me when I watch them. If this man can defy gravity and the fear of failure when faced with such huge feats- at least to me- maybe I can too.
I think that Danny MCaskill has an amazing talent. I think that what he dose could be very motivational. After watching this I realized that people can do anything they put there mind to. It was almost freeing to watch him defy gravity. And how he put his fears of failure and injury behind him in order to achieve that level of success is amazing.
I think that not only what Danny MCaskill did was extremely talented, but it was beautiful and patient. I think videos like these are what triggers our intrinsic motivation to accomplish our personal wants. I saw the passion and effort in Danny. Risk and passion are two major factors that I would say, inspires most of us.
I feel like one of students' biggest traits is being able to see passon in someone or something. We all have some sort of hobby that we have passon for and with MacAskill, we see his weath of passon for BMX/freerunning. I now have a new found passon for people who have an obessive passon for anything, it adds character to that person as well as a new depth of personality.
What I got out of the video was that, if someone has enough inspration, they can do anything. It must have taken this guy years to master those moves on his bicycle. He didn't just get that good over night. Like students, it doesn't take one night to write a good paper or get good at writing; but practice. This guy is a good example that by trying hard enough, one can master anything.
The video really did inspire me because I have had trouble being motivated lately and I found that writing was a terriffic motivator. I am doing much better with my studies, and I have stellar grades and I hope to do something with my new found writing skills. This man has really inspired me to do just that and I find that he can inspire thousands to do what they want to do.
Danny MCaskill showed that you have to be strong in what you want to do in life. I have had lots of ups and downs in my life. I know life will never be easy. Challenging yourself is how you create and defines who you are. You don’t want people to remember you as someone who never cared, who never tried anything. I want to live out my life, live as long as I can and excel in things that some only dream about because they are not strong enough to go out there and fail maybe once, twice, or 100 times. My failures tell me that I just have to find a different way, not that I made a mistake and now it’s over. You haven’t truly failed unless you stop trying
I think the Danny MacAskill "Way Back Home" video is pretty sick, it is definitely an inspiring and motivating piece. It goes to show you how a little bit of practice and hard work can go a long way, especially when your doing something you enjoy. Surely practice and hard work could help with my academic endeavors, but honestly none of the honors or AP classes I've taken throughout my years in high school have been remotely as enjoyable as bicycling, or in my case, motocross bikes. Love the fresh air.
He is a very talented biker. He put his mind to being a skilled biker and came through with success, this can happen to anyone if you put your whole heart into something you can come out victorious. We all have a chance to succeed academically it just depends on if your going his level, or just riding a bike down a street. Effort equals more output and in turn you being better at what you are attempting to do.
Mr.MCaskill is indeed a talented individual that made me look a second time. It truly inspires me to think that even the most elementary things like riding a bike can become an art form and Danny has certainly shown me this. He in a sense represents my generation. We are all individuals being forced to walk to an ancient societal beat that hasn't changed in a few hundred years. Its time for something new. something that can make not only a few people look, but the entire world witness beauty, and believe in it. and it comes down to the individuality of each and every member of this society.
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Danny MCaskill was an interesting figure, I wouldn't necessarily say he inspired me, but he most certainly enthused me. (Mostly because I don't have much of an interest in BMX--Not to say he didn't interest me though). What I liked most, was simply the fact of how much fun he has with it; he found his dream/interest and pursued it. And on that note it did "inspire" me, but not to make me want to pick up a bike and try for myself.
The video of Danny MacAskill's journey did inspire me. I'm a person who thrives on inspiration from others and as I was watching I felt as free as I do when I'm flying down a mountain on a bike, on the back of a horse, out running, playing lacrosse, or sitting at my drum kit. As a musician the music he used spoke to me. When paired with a video the music doesn't set the mood it translates it for the audience and the music selection worked flawlessly with the video. I've also done some filming and helped my boyfriend make his parkour (or free running) videos, the shots and subtle use of fish eye in some places really pulls it together as an artistic piece. Sorry, I started to analytically pull it apart, but returning to the inspiration question it did inspire me. I normally do try to look at life with my whole mind open but this made me blink and refresh my look on my life, or atleast my day.
Danny MCaskill was certainly extremely talented, and it was obvious how much work he had put into learning all his steps and how much passion he needed to have. While, what he did, wasn't necessarily what sparked me to be passionate, it was the motivation behind the video, and watching him live out his dream that made the difference.
He had so many different places he was going to, and so many different people he met along the way. That makes a life worth living, is how you inspire others and push yourself beyond limits you didn't know you could overcome.
Danny MCaskill is an amazing cyclist, who was inspiring to me. If he would of stood there and explained what he does to me, I wouldn't of believed it. His presentation hardly relates to my world in the way that I am not into life threatening extreme sports. He has inspired me to take more risks in life though, who knows whats possible, you just need to find the courage to take risks and try new things.
In this video, Danny MCaskill showed how someone can accomplish great things in even the simplest activities. He took riding a bicycle, something we’ve all known how to do since we were small children, to a level that I would never have imagined could be possible. This shows how, with time, effort, and motivation, you can achieve awe-inspiring levels of greatness in anything you try. Also, I know that Danny MCaskill didn’t start riding a bike the way he did in the video, it undoubtedly took years of practice and this is what really inspires me. He was probably just the same as everyone else but he chose to become great and worked hard to get there. That means that I can do the same with enough motivation and perseverance.
When watching Danny MCaskill it is obvious that he is the best at what he does. What inspires me is thinking about how he became that good. Sure some of it was just pure talent, but the rest he has worked for. To become that good it takes a huge amount of heart and focus. This applies to everyone's life because we shouldn't ever want to just do OK. We should all strive to be the best reach new heights, in our academic and outside lives.
After watching the video I have come to realize that not everything is the way we see it. To me, I could never imagine someone being able to defy gravity the way Danny MacAskill does. It just doesn't seem like something so amazing as that could be possible, but he proved me wrong. I think that if you have a passion for something, you should take that and do as Danny MacAskill did and find your own way to "defy gravity".
When I first watched the clip, I honestly didn't really understand what we were supposed to see besides a guy just performing cool bike tricks. The more I thought about it though; I think it can relate to academics and life in general. The guy we saw perfected his skill to the max. He found something he loved to do and strove to get better. I think that it's the journey to get there that is important. Whatever your skill is or whatever you love to do, you have to work at it just like the guy in the video had to do to get where he is.
I found it interesting that he went back to his original roots. With his way back home its always inspiring to find something new or reminded of about where you were from. This reminds me of times when in school you are just reminded of certain subjects in other classes and it helps you get through the class or objective a little easier and it uplifts me in a sense. The video also inspired me to just venture around Colorado and see whats out there as I head off to college. Since then I have been just looking for the little things almost and it has been a joyous ride.
The passion that this man has for his sport is much like that I feel for music. He was committed to it, and he felt like it was essential to his wellbeing and happiness.
I really liked this video. It made me think that anything was possible- I cringed watching some of these stunts and was afraid that at some point during the video I was going to see blood. Every trick he performed was amazing and perfect. It took lots of practice and patience, and it made me think that patience and practice was all it took to accomplish anything. I really liked this video and I hope to see more like it in the near future.
This extreme biker we viewed in class had a lot of determination and courage to do what he did on his bike. I guess this same determination and bravery also can go into pursuing and learning from an education. So there are a lot of life lessons to learn from this extreme biker, which can apply to my own life.
