Persius is more heroic because he does not have Hubris. Jason also leaves Medea for someone else who is more socially acceptable. Persius goes on the journey for someone else, while Jason does it for personal gain. They use love differently, Jason for gain, Persius simply fell in love. At the end only one fell to Hubris, Jason.

I think that Jason and Perseus are both heroic and that neither is more heroic than the other. Jason and Perseus both participate in the guest-host relationship. They also have to go on adventures to obtain something that seems unattainable. Jason and Perseus also both get help from the gods. Jason gets help from Hera and Aphrodite and Perseus gets help from Hermes and Athena.

I think that Jason is more heroic, even though he spurned Medea when he decided to marry somebody else and he does follow the heroic code. Concerning Medea, someone is always hurt at the end of a heroic conquest. The only reason he went to get the Golden Fleece was because he wanted the recognition as the rightful king of his land and because he did that he became the first hero and is in sense the most immortal hero of all.

When it comes to who is more heroic Jason desires to be recognized and is on a quest for immortality in The quest of the golden fleece. Perseus had a quest for immortality and desire to be recognizes by going on a hunt to get Medusa head! In both journeys they had a goal of helping themselves. In the end i thought that Perseus was more heroic because he staying with his damsel in distress in the end. He also didnt have Hubris .

In my opinion Perseus is a far more heroic character than Jason. Perseus started his quest because he did not bring a gift to the party he was invited to. He wanted to be recognized and worthy and becuase of that he went off and found three items with the help of the gods.

i feel that perseus is more heroic because he does not posses hubris. he is going on a quest for his mother. he went on his adventure on his own, unlike jason. he didn't have a a person like medea who helps him with his quest. jason also leaves medea for someone else. i feel that perseus has more of the hero qualities than jason.

According to the Heroic code, Perseus is more of a hero. He struggles with hubris at the beginning when he promises to bring back Medusa's head to the evil king Polydectes. He also had assistance from the gods (Hermes and Athena). He had a great adventure when he decided to go find the gorgon lair, and before that he had a few "trials" to go through. Perseus sought after the throne of Polyectes and the reward of being known for his impossible feat. He pursued "Arete", or excellence and he didn't want to lose honor. He acted beyond his limitations with the gifts of Hermes (winged sandals) and Athena (mirror/shield).

Looking at who is more heroic between Jason and Perseus based on the heroic code, Perseus is more heroic. He is less arrogant and doesnt have the hubris quality. Jason uses Madea as a guide throughout the story and Perseus doesnt which to me gives him a more heroic quality in my mind. Jason also goes on his quest for the benefit of himself where Perseus does it for the good of others.

Both Jason and Perseus are equally heroic. The exploits of both exemplify the points of the heroic code, both show the guest/host relationship. So it really is just a matter of opinion.

I beleive that Persius is more heroic than Jason. Even though both of these charachters are very heroic, Persius does not have hubris. Both charachters get help from the gods, but Perseus doers not have someone helping him like medea helped Jason. Perseus also went on his voyage without a crew unlike Jason. This is why i beleive that Perseus is more heroic then Jason.

I think that Persius is more heroic. He went on his quest for love, not just to gain power like Jason. Also, Persius only had help from the gods and no other people. At times on his journey he was all alone. Unlike Jason who received help from both mortals and immortals. He also had a guest host relationship with many people from places he went. Persius shows he is very heroic by facing Medusa who could kill him just by looking in his eyes.

Although both Jason and Perseus both had magical aid, and aid from the Gods, I believe Perseus was more heroic than Jason. I feel this way because Perseus fulfills the heroic code better than Jason; Perseus shows less hubris then Jason does because he is far more humble than Jason is. Also Perseus is pursuing the ultimate pride which is directly stated in the heroic code. Jason does not treat those in his life very well at all, whereas Perseus makes sure his mother is happy. The overall purpose of Perseus' journey is to save-face, where Jason's purpose is to take the throne.

I think that Perseus is more heroic. He faced all his tasks by himself, except for very little help from Hermes and Athena. Jason had a lot of help from Medea and the Argonauts. Perseus didn't do the task because he was proud, he did it to prove himself to Polydectes. Jason and Perseus both fell in love, one was forced and one was natural. The natural love was Perseus and Andromeda. Jason fell to hubris, Perseus did not.

I would say Perseus was more heroic, because he took his adventure on his own. Yes, he did have the gods help him, but he didn't have an "army" of men, along with a woman madly in love with him, willing to help him out in any way.
To me, Jason seemed more comfortable in his shoes, because he had so much support; he really didn't have anything to worry about. While Perseus had the emotion of fear, because he had to conquer this own his own. Overall, I think Perseus is ultimately the hero in this situation, just because of his independence and drive to accomplish his mission, even if he was on his own.

I think that Perseus is more heroic than Jason. His quest was more noble, he wasn't just chasing his lost power. His overall heroism is rooted in his love for his mother and he alone (though helped by the Gods) killed Medusa. The stakes were higher for Perseus, his quest was similar in that they were both after the retrieval of something, but Jason had a crew. As far as the heroes journey goes, they both fulfilled the requirements and fearlessly walked boldly.

I think Perseus is most definitely more heroic than Jason. Jason overcame a great many feats, but in the end he suffers from hubris. He thinks he is too good to be married only to Madea. Perseus is heroic to others. Danae, Andromeda, and all of the people on the island benefited from his heroic deeds.

When Persius goes on his journey he is doing it for someone else, But when Jason goes on his it;s for personal gain so i think that Persius win on being heroic. Because when your being heroic your not doin it for yourself you should be doing it to help someone else, Jason did not do that.

No one is more heroic then then the other to me. Both wish to be known in history, they strive for immortality. Perseus with the Medusa's head and Jason with the golden fleece. Even though Jason did leave Medea for some one else, Perseus forgot to bring a wedding gift, which a both mortal mistakes. Also, both of the men had help from others on their quest, Jason had Medea, and Perseus had the help of Athena and Hermes. Without these others helping them, they would not have succeeded in their quest.

I agree with SGetz. Although both Perseus and Jason are heroes, it seems to me that Perseus was more heroic. They both have they're faults, they both undergo seemingly impossible trials on their adventures, and are able to make it through with the help of the gods. However, I thought Jason displayed hubris whereas Perseus did not. Jason wanted to get sole credit for attaining the golden fleece so he abandoned Medea. Perseus on the other hand went on his journey not for his own benifit, but to attain Medea's head for the king as a present for his wedding because he did not know he was supposed to bring a present to the wedding originally.
