My reaction to this myth is that Psyche had to have trust that she would fall in love with someone, as told by the oracle. Even though she was supposed to fall in love with a "monster", she trusted her supposed destiny and waited to meet this monster: "On the high hilltop in the darkness Psyche sat, waiting for she knew not what terror". After she met Cupid, but still didn't know who he was, she had trust in the validity of their secret relationship, and Cupid had trust that she wouldn't try to see what he looked like. However, when Psyche wanted to see his face and had doubts about their relationship, Cupid flew away because she had broken their trust, "Love cannot live where there is no trust". Psyche also broke trust when Venus told her to not open the box, but she did. This shows how easily it is to break trust. In the end, Cupid forgave Psyche for breaking their trust, "It is a difficult matter to keep love imprisoned". Overall, this myth shows how trust can be broken, but can be healed by love.

If you didn't have neither trust or confidence can easily be broken. Cupid was more in darkness an radiant and Psyche was beauty and fearful. There should be no trouble just peacefulness, for example Psyche in the video was being in the field of flowers following her dreams of success. This shows the comparison between her and he that some things can go bad in a relationship like trust especially but the love of affection can heal by both human beings.
After hearing the myth about Cupid and Psyche my thoughts are that trust is the beating heart of a relationship so to say, without it the relationship wouldn't be able to thrive. As soon as Cupid realized that Psyche looked at his face even though she promised not to flew away immediately because his trust in her had been broken that instantaneously. This shows how vital yet fragile trust is. Another large takeaway from this story is the importance of trust for love as Cupid states, "Love cannot live where there is no trust." My reaction to the Cupid and Psyche myth's proclamation about trust was that uncertainty and doubt are contributing factors to what Cupid may have believed was Psyche's loss of trust. I don't think that Psyche really lost trust in her husband Cupid but was rather manipulated to act upon her uncertainty and her fear that her husband may have different intentions only due to mind games that Psyche's sisters played on her. Psyche proved her love to her husband by searching endlessly for him even though Cupid had left her after she betrayed him. Most of all, I think Cupid lost trust in Psyche because she had promised him to never look upon his face but when she betrayed his wish and broke her promise, Cupid couldn't trust her to keep future promises. When Cupid said to Psyche, "Love cannot live where there is no trust" this was mostly a reflection on his own emotions. He was doubting the love he had for Psyche because of her supposed betrayal but in proving her love for Cupid the trust was repaired for him which leads us to ask the question, is it trust that cannot live without love or proof of worthiness?

Psyche was tempted by her sisters to look at Cupid, resulting in the loss of trust with him. She then went looking for him, hoping that her trust could be regained. She went through multiple trials by a jealous Venus, and was helped to show her trust to Cupid and his mother. She proved that she loved him and would do anything to earn his trust back, including almost impossible tasks. What I took away from this text is that trust isn't something that is always kept true in a relationship and that it will disappear at some point, but it can be regained through proof.

This is very interesting because of the fact that she lets her own doubts become stronger than her love and trust for her husband. This ultimately seals her faith in the fact that because of the broken bonds Cupid leaves. There is even a metaphorical burn mark on him. When it says “some hot oil fell from the lamp upon his shoulder” this is basically saying that because of her breaking her promise the love they have is damaged (because he is the god of love). But finally after that, she goes through her trials and Aphrodite has kept Cupid prisoner, it said that “ Cupid was healed of his wound by now and longing for Psyche.” This is the final linking metaphor, that even if trust is broken and even if love gets damaged, with time, if it is true love (which it must be because the god of love) the damage that was done will be healed. So overall I believe that the story is trying to say that sometimes destiny isn’t always what you may think it is and that sometimes others will try and take you down the wrong path but if you stumble it may take time but love will always come around in the end.

And as soon as it is broken it must be earned but some big show of affection or that you have changed.
