There can be no true love without trust. After Psyche burned Cupid it would take him a long time to be able to trust him. Psyche also couldn't trust Cupid when he would not show himself to her. They could eventually love each other but it would take time for trust to develop.

This myth seems to say that if you aren’t completely faithful and obedient, you aren’t worth the gods time. Psyche was almost tricked, in a way, into falling for the God of Love because she was so desperate for a husband. Once she finally got her dream husband, he wouldn’t allow her to see her family or himself. When she even tried to see her husband, he left her and she was faced with the wrath of Venus. This myth told me that in ancient Greek times, men were very dominant in the relationship and trust was very important to them. Without the trust factor, it seems that men would leave their wives and move on.

It really goes to show how much a relationship is dependent on trust. Even if at first there is less trust, it still can and should be earned. In the end, with both parties trusting each other it leads to a much more healthy relationship as shown in the story with how even after being wronged, Cupid still loved Psyche after seeing how much she loved and trusted him now, so much as to do all of Venus' tasks.

To have true love in a relationship, trust must be present. Without trust, other aspects such as honesty, fidelity, and reliability will lack, making the relationship overall weak. Thanks to her sisters, Psyche became curious as to if Cupid was actually a monster who would kill her and didn't trust that he would protect and love her no matter what. To prove her own loyalty after Cupid's disappearance, Psyche performed challenging tasks brought about by Venus, Cupid's mother, in order to be with her husband again. She did this because she then knew what he looked like and trusted that he would love her. So the story becomes one of patience. Psyche had to be patient in performing whatever task Venus commanded her to do and Cupid had to be patient for Psyche, for in the beginning, she was unstable in trust but in time, worked to prove that trust in the end.

"Love cannot live where there is no trust." These words of Cupid are undeniably true. Two people can love each other but without trust, they might as well forget their relationship. To be honest, it's hard living with the unknown. Psyche wanted to know what Cupid looked like. However, when something is kept a secret from someone, it's often for a good reason. Perhaps Cupid didn't show himself to Psyche so that she wouldn't boast about having a god love her. This could've put her in danger. Although it was not the most ideal situation, I feel as though Cupid was protecting Psyche from harm and trusted her to abide by his wishes. However, being of human nature, Psyche was curious and somewhat fearful as to why her husband wouldn't reveal himself to her. In a fit of curiosity and fear, she saw what Cupid was like and ultimately betrayed his trust. When Cupid flew away to nurse his wound and to be back with his mother, Venus, he told her that "Love cannot live where there is no trust". Consequently, Venus found out that Psyche was married to Cupid and made her life miserable because she boasted in the past that she was more beautiful then her. As a result, Psyche suffered from her mistake of not trusting Cupid and had to endure hardships to win him back. Today, we can relate to Psyche because we are curious and sometimes fearful of what others hide from us. If we pursue what the other person doesn't want us to pursue then we can end up breaking that person's trust. Like us, Psyche had to endure extreme tests to see if she was subject to earn back trust. Bottom line is that if we don't trust someone or if that trust is broken then it is a long and grueling road to get it back.

There is no doubt that the myth is correct in saying, "Love cannot live where there is no trust." Trust can change the aspect of a relationship completely. A good example would be Psyche in this, because she was not good in earning trust with those around her, Cupid and Venus in specific, and her life was made miserable because of it. Trust is a hard thing to win back, and Cupid and Psyche's trust in each other was changed. In order to win Cupid back, Psyche had to endure the wrath of Venus.

I think this story is a little different when relating to modern day love because we always see each other. I think Cupid was trying to teach his wife a lesson of beauty is on the inside and not the outside. I think jealous is a big lesson in this myth too when it comes to Venus. In the end Psyche wins Cupid back when she goes through obstacles to get him back and prove her love for him.

I think that truth is what builds the base for a positive relationship, "love cannot live where there is no trust,"(100) As the outcome for Psyche seeing who he really is she broke the one thing he asked for in order for there relationship. But yet we see that this love can be redeemed and a trust can be gained once again.

The whole myth goes along with this relationship of love and trust. In relationships trust must be present in order for it to work. Cupid even says "Love cannot live where there is not trust. This i completely true in life and all relationships, if you cant trust your husband or wife things simply won't workout. Another part of the story to look at would be fighting for a relationship. In the story Psyche wins back cupid's love despite the consequences, this is an example of how to keep a relationship. In the story it shows both ways of how to lose and keep a relationship. It can be seen as both good and bad. However, love is love and it can't be kept apart.

The main message in the Cupid myth is that dedication and trust are key in relationships. On page 100 Cupid states, "Love cannot live where there is no trust,". This statement shows what the Greeks believed about the value of trust in others. When Psyche loses Cupid she works tirelessly to get him back, showing the value of of dedication in a relationship

While I agree with Cupid's quote, "Love cannot live where there is no trust", I don't think it should existence with blind dedication. Gods also seem to expect things from humans without reciprocating. The more powerful the god, the more this is true. In this way, Cupid expects complete trust from Psyche when he is risking nothing himself. Relationships are about give and take almost as much as they are about communication. Instead of being super cryptic, if Cupid was straight up like, "Yo I'm cupid so you can't look at me, yeah?", there would be no story. Additionally, I am of the belief that trust should be earned, which Cupid doesn't do. If you look at it through a different lens, Psyche is kept in the dark (literally and metaphorically) about who this man is. By extension, depending on the version of the myth, she is told by the oracle that she's "lying with a snake who will devour her and her children". Obviously, she doesn't have complete trust in a stranger who she's been told wants to murder her that she doesn't even love. I think it's important to note she doesn't fall in love organically. She's pricked by one of Cupid's arrows when he startles awake. After Cupid flees, the only reason she searches for him is because of the arrow's magic. This is an example of how in a celestial-human relationship, the god is always in a position of authority over the mortal. They hold their partner's life in their hands and they know it. That kind of power imbalance does not a healthy relationship make. The mortal must prove their dedication, in Psyche's case, through a series of increasingly difficult tasks. Something a god never has to do. So while Cupid's quote, "Love cannot live where there is no trust", is true, the person responsible for the lack of trust was never Psyche.

the very famous quote "love can not live where there is no trust" can mean many things, such as love at first site, people may claim it has happened to them but believe me not. personality, trust and dedication are all the biggest key to a relationship. so if there is no trust than there is no love. very simple but people may preseve it differently and disagree with me but i very well think that this quote is probably one of the best quotes to ever be said.

If there is no trust in a relationship, then there is no true relationship. Whether it is friendships or relationships, there has to be some form of trust. If trust is broken, then the cookie crumbles."Love cannot live where there is no trust". The key to a great relationship, and a great life, is a great amount of trust. Where trust thrives, so does happiness and success. Without trust, the world would be paranoid and confusing.

A relationship can not truly flourish without the crucial element of trust. Without trust you can't depend on a person. So when the trust between cupid and psyche was broken it will not heal quickly. There is a long way to go because until trust is restored there won't be a relationship! "Love cannot live where there is no trust"

When there isn't a multitude of trust in a relationship it isn't a good relationship. When your with someone you truly love you should be able to tell them absolutely anything and be ope about your past and everyday life. I soulfully agree with Cupid's quote "Love cannot live where there is no trust" it expresses the one true value to every long lasting successful relationship.

My reaction to the Cupid and Psyche myth that stated issues about trust and relationships is that shows how relationships are depended on trust and effort. Relationships are supposed to make people have fun and be happy together. Someone that trusts you and someone that supports you in every single thing that you do. If not then that is toxic as well as unhealthy and can be really damaging over time. Just like how Psyche couldn't trust Cupid. Without trust or effort, those aren't good recipes for a good relationship

Trust is the most important building block in a relationship. Psyche had remained loyal to Cupid's wish for her to not see him, but later on her also mentioned Scolding her a little for her curiosity." (pg. 133) She's human and therefore is presumed to make more mistakes. Psyche should have trusted Cupid more in their relationship, but she was born with curiosity, and for many humans, it leads to their downfall. Psyche does trust Cupid, she's just curious. She didn't mean for him to run away and she blamed herself, "Wretch that I am, could not keep faith in him." (pg.129) She is a human that got curious and she made a mistake, she didn't mean to be unfaithful, she just messed up and needed to fix it.

In the myth of Cupid and Psyche, many things come together to form their fragile relationship. In all relationships, romantic and non romantic, trust is an undoubted vital element that cannot be overlooked. Everything rests on this single element. In the myth, Cupid trusts Psyche to never look upon him directly, and she later breaks this trust by doing exactly that. This proves what a important part trust plays in all relationships.

Cupid and Psyche's comment about relationships and trust is caution. The myth's message is without trust relationships are dangerous both mentally and as we see in the myth physically as well. The myth also comments on how trust is difficult because it requires each party to stay true and listen to each other as well.
